No Fry French Fries

This is the best one yet. I think that the soaking in ice water really helped.

Ingredients

  • 4 potatoes (1-1/2 lb / 750 g total)
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • Salt

Directions

Peel potatoes; cut lengthwise into sticks about 1/2 inch (1 cm) thick.
Soak in bowl of ice water for 15 minutes.
Drain thoroughly and pat dry.
On large baking sheet, arrange potatoes in single layer; drizzle with oil. Turn potatoes to coat all sides. Bake, turning occasionally, in 450°F (230°C) oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown and crisp. Sprinkle with salt.
